Amesbury Abbey

Nursing Home from £750 per week
Retirement Housing from £90,000

Amesbury Abbey is a magnificent Palladian Grade 1 listed mansion set in 35 acres of historic parkland, through which flows the famous Hampshire Avon. The original Abbey was closed by Henry VIII in 1539 and gifted to the Seymour family. The grounds include the restored Chinese Summer House, commissioned by Charles, Duke of Queensbury and designed by the foremost architect of the day, Sir William Chambers, designer of the pagoda at Kew.

The atmosphere at the Abbey is one of unique spaciousness and tranquility. The classical surroundings and its peaceful private parklands are perfect for leisurely walks and exercising pets, which are welcome by prior agreement. The river is stocked and enjoys private fishing rights for you and your visitors.

The Nursing Home resides in the main mansion house and offers gracious living coupled with high quality nursing care. The dining room adjoins the Abbey’s newly refurbished conservatory, offering magnificent views of the grounds and making it the ideal location for quiet relaxation, while the elegantly furnished drawing room, complete with drinks license and feature fireplace by William Kent, provides an obvious choice for receptions, talks, recitals, concerts, parties and other social occasions. Each room includes en-suite bathroom facilities and suites are also available for couples, with a separate drawing room, one or two bedrooms, a bathroom and hall.

A short stroll from the busy town of Amesbury and sharing the Abbey’s parkland grounds and mansion house facilities are Mews, I & II, each comprising 19 and 13 individual retirement apartments respectively. Each apartment is specifically designed for independent living with an excellent range of support services covered by a quarterly service charge. To the east of the grounds lies the unique Diana’s House, with its own gardens and river frontage.
